To be able to truly feel the elements and to know that everything stays so close to your soul is just one of the million reasons for Red Bull X glider pilot Luca Bertossio for wanting to fly. Bertossio is not only a competitor for the Italian National Glider Aerobatic team, he is also an airshow pilot for Red Bull and  the official testimonial for Citizen Watches. Moreover, Luca Bertossio who started his career in 2010 is a living proof of how far you can get with enthusiasm and love for what you do. And when it comes to achievements, Bertossio has achieved a lot. He is the first Italian to win six FAI gold medals and two FAI silver medals in the glider aerobatic discipline. In 2012 and 2015, he won the world titles. Glider aerobatics is definitely a discipline not very people are familiar with. It requires excellent skills, good health and a feel for it to be able to perform stunts, such as loops, wingovers, turns, spins, hammerhead or slow roll. What makes a glider display different is the simple fact that is has no engine, a fact that is both the displays’s strength and weakness. The glider is usually towed into the air by means of a plane which provides aerobatics with the opportunity to defy convention and take unique elements a bit further.
