Embark on this small journey through the history of air travel which started when Boeing’s founders began to shape our world. In 1915, Edward Boeing, the son of the German emigrant Wilhelm Böing, started working on his first airplane in close cooperation with his colleague George Conrad Westervelt in Seattle, Washington. Today, the US-American corporation Boeing Company is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of civil and military aircraft and helicopters. Moreover, the company also develops and builds military and space technology. Boeing and its European competitor Airbus form a duopoly for wide-body aircraft.
